Dr. Paul Sullivan

Dr. Sullivan is a vitreoretinal surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was the Director of the Vitreoretinal Service at Moorfields and now the Director of Medical Education at Moorfields. Elected to the Council of the National Association of Clinical Tutors in 2010. He received an Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2011 and hold a Level 9 Clinical Excellence Award.
He is invited as speaker at many national and international meetings including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Annual Congress, the World Ophthalmology Congress and the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting. Author or coauthor of over 70 peer reviewed scientific publications.
He has written several book chapters on many aspects of vitreoretinal detachment including the chapter on conventional retinal detachment techniques for the 5th Edition ‘Retina’ (Ed. S Ryan), the leading international textbook on retinal disease.
Is the coauthor of the Eyemovies Vitreoretinal Surgery DVD which won a commendation in the BMJ book awards and is widely used throughout the world for training vitreoretinal surgeons.
He received an ‘NHS Hero’ award (based on commendations from patients and colleagues) in 2013. On that year, he set up Eyelearning Ltd for the publication of ophthalmic e-books. The first publication ‘The Open Globe’ is currently available free from the Apple iBookstore or via iTunes. Also published a vitreoretinal ibook.
